Bleeding and Barefoot
One man, twenty-four firearms and 1100 spent rounds pointing into a joyful crowd of 22,000. Bleeding and barefoot Lacey Newman survived the mass shooting at the Route 91 Harvest Festival in 2017 and is better for it! Determined to make good of a tragedy, Lacey will dig deep into the details of the incident and share her insights far beyond what the media ever covers. She will share how the weekend turned from “the best of our lives to running for our lives”, her lessons learned and what the aftermath of these tragic events that continue to plague our country truly look like. She inspires with her journey of physical and mental recovery, how she honors the lives lost that night and how she got to the point of thriving, not just surviving. Lacey will influence change and prove that true beauty can come from tragedy.
Learn about the strength and healing power she mustered during and after the shooting. Hear how you can better prepare for mass tragedy as a safety professional and as a human being living within the great community called Earth.
By the end of this session, participants will be able to
• Eliminate the “It can never happen to me” mindset
• Determine if your location could be a magnet for a mass shooting
• Re-evaluate your organizations view on mental health and EAP options
• Connect the sense of community to safety and health in our world
• Describe the importance of implementing a Stop the Bleed campaign with your team
